Hashiware Residential

Case Study

Located in the picturesque coastal town of Alibaug, the Hashiware Residence is a beautiful home that blends traditional design with modern comforts. The clients sought to create a warm, inviting space that reflects classic elegance while making the most of their 66 lakh budget.

Project Brief

The objective was to transform the Hashiware Residence into a timeless retreat with traditional styling, incorporating elements that honor local heritage and cultural aesthetics. The project aimed to deliver an interior design that is both functional and stylish, respecting the client’s vision of classic elegance.

Site Characteristics:

  • Topography: The site in Alibaug features a relatively flat terrain, which facilitated straightforward construction but required careful planning to integrate the traditional design seamlessly.
  • Existing Structures: The residence involved an extensive renovation of an existing structure, necessitating structural assessments and adjustments to accommodate new design elements.

Design Constraints:

  • Traditional Aesthetic Integration: The challenge was to blend traditional design elements with the existing structure while ensuring modern comfort and functionality.
  • Space Utilization: Maximizing the use of available space within the traditional framework required innovative design solutions and bespoke furniture.

Sustainability Practices:

  • Material Sourcing: Emphasis was placed on using locally sourced materials to reduce environmental impact and support local craftsmen. Wood, stone, and terracotta were selected for their traditional appeal and environmental benefits.
  • Energy Efficiency: While maintaining traditional aesthetics, the project incorporated energy-efficient lighting and fixtures to promote sustainability.

Design Adaptation:

  • Climate Considerations: The traditional design elements were adapted to suit Alibaug’s humid coastal climate. For instance, ventilated wooden paneling was used to address humidity issues, and durable materials were chosen to prevent wear and tear.
  • Outdoor Integration: The design incorporated local flora and traditional landscaping techniques to enhance the outdoor environment, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings.
